BAMA Elections 2006 - Provisional Dates for the coming BAMA's Council elections:

June 23 (Friday): Provisional deadline for the return of the ballot papers.
May 29 (Monday):  Posting of ballot papers / AGM notification / Constitutional amendments.
May 19 (Friday):    Last date receiving completed nomination forms.
May 1st (Monday):  Posting nomination call to members (plus guidelines)
April 1st (Monday):  Posting notification for annual dinner and provisional notification of the elections/nominations/AGM.

This will include a BAMA session in association with ArabMed and Ajman University (details in: word document / in rtf format)

APRIL 2005

1-8 April 2005 -
BAMA with Al Azhar University Medical - Meeting in co-operation for the second year running with BAMA

The conference is in conjunction with Al Azhar Medical School and members are invited to participate.  There will be 5-star room for double occupancies for less than £40.00.  A cruise on the Nile to Aswan for four nights is also optional at a much reduced rate. Details are attached.

Syrian Week of Science:
The Syrian Week of Science, in co-operation with BAMA, will be held in Damascus, Syria in the second week of November 2005.  The Theme of the conference will be Evidence Based Medicine and Abstracts should be sent to Mousa Al-Kurdi by 20th June 2005 at mousa@al-kurdi.demon.co.uk   (Click here for details).

10 April to 2 May 2005 - BAMA Weekend
This will be a repeat of our earlier very successful weekend and be held on 30th April – 2nd May 2005 in East Anglia (details to be announced).   This will include both a cultural and scientific programme and a formal dinner on 30th April.

Due to be held on 12th November 2005 (the second Saturday of Ramadhan).

We are hoping to celebrate Christmas/New Year’s Eve in one of London’s Arabic restaurants (dependent upon response).

We sincerely hope that you will join us in some of our activities.

2003 - 2004

The 3rd EVIDENCE BASED MEDICINE December 28th 2003 at Jeddah Westin Hotel, for 4 days, 8:00 am-5:00pm.   The course is accredited for 23 CME hours (Saudi Council of Medical Specialties).  The course consists of both plenary sessions and practical workshops “small group discussion” (Critical Appraisal of Medical Literature) in order to enable every participant to have his/her ambiguities clarified.  NNT, RR, RRR, ARR, Odds Ratio, sensitivity, specificity, likelihood ratios and other terms used in current literature will be discussed.  In addition, practical Internet search sessions will be provided with all having the chance to search for evidence (HANDS ON) to help introduce participants to primary and secondary sources of evidence.

Sunday, June 27:  rest, recreation and optional tours

Monday-Thursday, June 28-July 1:  Scientific sessions and tourism program

Friday, July 2:  All day tour or visits to local hospitals; optional afternoon departure for two-day scientific sessions in Damascus

Monday, July 5:  Optional 3-5 day extension tours begin.  Locations to be announced
